“He said we would go from Kano…”
This line caught my attention. She’s a young girl I do not know from anywhere. But I waited for that call to be over and invited her for a chat. Let’s call her E
My suspicions were right. A man in Ogun State (an agent) has offered to take her abroad and they will travel from Kano. That call was to her elder brother to update him.
My heart sank. I know this line. I did a documentary on this. This girl is about to fall victim of sex trafficking. So, what did I do?
After our quick chat, I told her not to consider going at all. That, that is Trafficking. Thankfully she had a few minutes. I played the documentary and she was shocked.
One of the girls in the documentary was trafficked from Ogun state. E was shocked to hear the exact lines she was told by this said agent in Ogun state. Her jaw dropped literally. She would look at the screen and look at me in disbelief.
I am glad this happened
I can go about my business
She is still reeling in shock but it is better than what would have happened.
