She told me, “A guy was in front of me to jump the fence, the gunman shot him. He dropped dead. There was a little girl in front of him, he shot her dead.

He looked me in the eyes and told me “climb am”. He let me go.

Was it luck?

Was it grace?

Was it cruel compassion?

Whatever that was, she escaped alive.
