This is indeed for my mum, Patricia Okoye whose prayers have always accompanied me to those places.

This is for incredible female journalists who have given me wings to fly and on whose shoulders I stand.

Ijeoma Nwogwuwgwu my MD while at Arise News who I learnt will insist on my safety and that of my cameraman at all their executive meetings. Thank you.

Stella Din Jacob the Queen Mother herself who held my hands in support while I was at Plustvafrica and has never ceased to cheer me on.

I am honoured to be on this list with seasoned and grounded journalists like you. Thank you for fanning my flame into this beautiful fire we are all seeing in storytelling and our commitment to the truth.

This is for many young female journalists who are dreaming and working so hard. You are definitely getting there and I am a sign.

And to the team at Women in Journalism Africa, you are incredible. What makes this even more beautiful is the fact that there is no prior notice, no contact, no information; only waking up to the pleasant surprise of being named among the 25 Most Powerful Women in Journalism by being tagged and friends who saw it before me sending the snapshots and links to me. You did a great job. Thank you.

I will keep the fire burning by telling the stories that matter.
